Bill Pugh,
Co-Founder and Managing Partner
Bill has over 25 years of experience in wired/wireless strategy, Digital Transformation and deployment of networking technologies for several private and public companies. Most recently over the past 9 years, working with cities and utilities on strategies for executing “Smart” initiatives around Street lights, Smart Parking, Intelligent Traffic, Digital Twins and Security best practices.
Before launching Smart Connections Consulting, Bill was in charge of networking infrastructure for a leading Smart Grid startup where he built out the Distribution Automation line of business and accumulated 4 patents for his innovative approach. Following the IPO of the Smart Grid startup, Bill joined a lighting retrofit startup where he led the development of the company's Smart City platform that demonstrated lighting controls, smart parking, gunshot detection and way-finding. The lighting retrofit company was acquired by a large telco provider and Bill subsequently began the effort to bring the city and the utility together by way of digital transformation efforts (People, Process and Technology) because, "You can't have a Smart City without having a Smart Grid".
Bill has been recognized as a leader in technology and business and is very passionate about "Digital Equity" and helping cities solve that challenge.
